A crisp should contain seasonal fruits at their peak in flavor, enhanced with a dusting of sugar and spice. Transfer to the oven and bake until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown and crisp, about 50 minutes. Serve the crisp slightly warm or at room temperature with the whipped cream.
