Artificial intelligence helps internet companies spot potential misinformation and connect it to fact checks, while mass distribution technology helps put fact checks in front of people who may never have heard of us before. Based on our workshop discussions at Global Fact, fact checkers would benefit from having private discussions about the design of new programmes. Fact checkers need to take time to have these conversations collectively, so that we can have better relationships with internet companies and others in the future. Fact checkers hold up standards of integrity and truth in societies, at a time when we cannot take this for granted in any country around the world.
